Overview of Esteel Coking Wastewater Membrane System
The zero-discharge project for centralized disposal of coking wastewater was officially launched in June 2019. The project includes a pretreatment system, a membrane treatment system, a dosing system, a sludge concentration system, a concentrated brine treatment system, a DCS control system, and a video surveillance system.
The designed treatment water volume of the coking wastewater centralized treatment zero discharge project is: the discharge volume of the phenol cyanide wastewater biochemical treatment system is 140m3/h; the concentrated water volume of the comprehensive wastewater treatment station is 45m3/h, and the peak value is 60m3/h.
After the project is put into operation, it is guaranteed that the pH value of the recycled water is 7~8.5, COD≤30mg/L, ammonia nitrogen≤5mg/L, turbidity≤5NTU, SS≤10mg/L and other water quality indicators meet the requirements of industrial reuse water; the pH value of concentrated brine water quality is 6 ~9,
COD≤150mg/L, ammonia nitrogen≤25mg/L, SS≤70mg/L and other water quality indicators meet the "Coking Chemical Industry Pollutant Discharge Standards".

Work efficiency and reduce labor. The completion of the project has realized zero discharge of coking wastewater, which has created effective preconditions for Echeng Iron and Steel Company to fully realize zero discharge of wastewater.

Problems encountered with membrane systems:
After analyzing the site survey and recorded data, it was concluded that the main reason for the problem was improper pretreatment such as microbial treatment, and the failure to clean and sterilize the entire system in time resulted in the contamination of the membrane, resulting in high operating pressure.
At the same time, the record also shows that the pressure of the first stage of the No. 2 system is 1.42MPA, the pressure of the second stage is 0.93MPA, and the pressure difference is large. After the on-site investigation and feedback, the membrane of the ultrafiltration system in the front has broken wire phenomenon, and the water quality analysis data is Cod219.
In the end, various abnormal conditions resulted in a small amount of effluent, poor water quality and substandard quality. Based on comprehensive analysis and judgment, it is recommended to replace the new membrane.
