RO membranes, in general, remove 90% or more of the contaminants present in the water, including TDS. When the TDS levels of your water source changes, it will affect the quality of the purified water output from your reverse osmosis system.

Even though in most circumstances the majority of the dissolved solids in water is salt, the S in TDS stands for solids, and not just salt. A reverse osmosis system uses a semi-permeable membrane to reject dissolved solids and other impurities from water.

There are several possible causes of a high TDS reading from water that's been purified by reverse osmosis: The quality of the water source has changed. The post-filter is adding minerals to the purified water. The rejected water is being re-used (applies to countertop RO systems). The reverse osmosis membrane needs to be replaced.

High TDS from a reverse osmosis system can be caused by the membrane malfunctioning, poor water pressure, a restricted drain line, non-reverse osmosis water contamination, higher TDS going into the reverse osmosis system or re-mineralization of the reverse osmosis water. Therefore, we have developed membrane elements for high TDS environments, normally, can be working up to 5000ppm, some also can be working up to 6000ppm to 8000ppm according to customer's request for high TDS series.

• When PH is above 10, the Maximum Temperature of Continuous Operation is 35ºC.
• Under certain conditions, the presence of free chlorine and other oxidants in the water may cause serious membrane damage, which doesn't belong to product warranty range.
